About Dr. Betty Noel-Pierre
Dr. Betty Noel-Pierre currently serves as head of upper school at the Brearley School in Manhattan. Before joining Brearley in July 2020, Dr. Noel-Pierre worked as the Head of the Middle School at Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn, the Director of Equity and Diversity at the Browning School, also in Manhattan, and the Academic Dean for the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth Summer Program.
Dr. Noel-Pierre also served on the Chapin School’s Board of Trustees from 2015 to 2017.
As a student, Dr. Noel-Pierre attended girls’ school from kindergarten through 12th grade, so she brings deep and unique insight to her role as Castilleja next Head of School. After graduating from the Chapin School, she went on to pursue a BA in Biology and PhD in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology and began her teaching career during her graduate studies, earning the Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Department. Since then, she has taught science in university, Upper School and Middle School classrooms and has risen into leadership roles that established her strength as a collaborative leader who brings her vision and experience as a student and a teacher to all strategic conversations. She and her husband, Anthony Pierre, have four children: Gladys (19), Juliana (14), AJ (12), and Andrew (7).
